Singapore: India’s three metropolitan cities Mumbai, Bangalore and Kolkata have been listed in the A T Kearney’s Global Cities Index 2015. The list is topped by London and New York.

  The three major cities were raising up their scores steadily in information exchange, business activity, human capital and cultural experience - the major parameters used in A T Kearney’s Global Cities Index to calculate city’s global engagement.  Particularly, these three cities have been witnessing extreme improvements in the field of information exchange.

Debashish Mukherjee, a partner with AT Kearnery said “ The success of any city depends on its potential attract human capital. Thus, a city should have a good environment for living”  

“India has been seeing a wide range of urban developments in terms of infrastructure across its top cities. As a result, the country’s urban centers have become more active globally,“ he added.  He also added, “ The plan to develop 100 smart cities by the Indian Government is a step in the right direction.

 India’s top metropolitan cities will be prioritized for the smart city program.”  The Global Cities 2015 is dived into two parts, which include The Global Cities Index (GCI) and the Global Cities Outlook (GCO)  This is the 5th Edition of The Global Cities Index (GCI), which was launched in 2008.  

The GCI provides a unique report based on the global engagement of 12 cities. The key parameters used to evaluate the cities include Business Activity, Human Capital, Information Exchange, Cultural Experience, and Political Engagement.  

The Global Cities Outlook (GCO) is a new addition this year, which evaluates the future growth of 125 cities. The report is evaluated based on the range of change across four parameters - Business Activity, Human Capital, Cultural Experience, Information Exchange and Political Engagement.
