India lists out its Cleanest Cities - 2016

Mysore has emerged as the cleanest city in India according to the results of a survey conducted by the government to measure the success of the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. This campaign, otherwise known as the Clean India Mission, was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2014 to improve the standards of cleanliness in the country.

The list features a total of 73 cities. Chandigarh came in second, Tiruchirappalli ranked third and the national capital, Delhi earned the fourth spot. This is the second consecutive time that the cultural capital of Karnataka, Mysore has reached the top spot.
